Romans 4:20-21 - and at the promise of God did not stagger in unbelief, but
was strengthened in faith, having given glory to God, and having been fully
persuaded that what He hath promised He is able also to do. This passage is talking about Abraham when God promised him the unheard of. Abraham knew how old he was and he knew that his wife was well past child- bearing age, but he didn't question God. He didn't feel the need to point out the obvious - that he and Sarah were way too old to have kids. He didn't once ask God if He was out of His mind because the promise was so unbelievable. He believed because God said so. No scientific proof was given to him. A team of doctors wasn't standing by with Viagra, in-vitro fertilization or a bunch of test tubes for test tube babies - it was just God and His word and that was enough as far as Abraham was concerned. Do you have that kind of faith? Do you believe absolutely or do you hope an awful lot? When someone asks you if you're going to Heaven at the end of your life to you give them an emphatic "Yes!" as a reply or do you grin and say "I sure hope so!"? That kind of absolute faith comes from giving your whole heart to God. If you haven't done that then you really can't expect to have your faith be strong enough to get you through the rough times. If you're "test driving" God to see if He fits in with your lifestyle, then you really don't know Him well enough to believe that He will be there for you through it all. That's the key here ... YOUR belief, not HIS presence. He's here for each and every one of us. But without faith, total and absolute faith, in a crisis, you'll never see Him because YOU won't be looking.
